ConocoPhillips’ Australian headquarters are located in Brisbane. Our focus is supplying Australian customers with natural gas and international customers with liquefied natural gas. We do this through our 47.5 percent interest in the Australia Pacific LNG joint venture, one of the largest producers of natural gas in eastern Australia. ConocoPhillips Australia also operates the Australia Pacific LNG liquefied natural gas facility near Gladstone. We are also an exploration company, with ongoing exploration occurring in the Bowen and Surat Basin in Central Queensland and new exploration in the Otway Basin along the southern coast of Australia to identify natural gas reserves for supply to Australian customers.
Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Lead, ConocoPhillips Australia is excited to bring to market the full-time position of Facility Engineer in Gladstone, Queensland.
The Facility Engineer will positively contribute to the safe operation of ConocoPhillips’ Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) facility at Curtis Island and act as the senior site based multi-discipline engineering technical resource and key multi-discipline engineering integrator.
The Facility Engineer will provide ConocoPhillips Australia with fit for purpose, risk appropriate and value adding multi-disciplinary engineering and improvement expertise, including, but not limited to:
Mentor and provide coaching and knowledge sharing to Curtis Island based technical specialists and other Curtis Island based engineers
Ensure multi-discipline engineering functional alignment between Curtis Island engineering focus areas and the Brisbane based engineering team
Scope, develop and endorse technical opportunities into either the Opportunity
Management Process or Management of Change Process as appropriate
Provide technical reviews of operational procedures and start up plans, as required.
About you
Along with your tertiary qualifications in engineering and demonstrated major hazard facility experience in all engineering disciplines, your work experience is underpinned by:
Cultural alignment with ConocoPhillips’ SPIRIT Values
Minimum 10 years practical, relevant facility engineering experience within the oil and gas and petrochemical industries
Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or ability to obtain
Demonstrated technical competency in engineering assignments of increasing responsibility, complexity and scope
Ability and desire to mentor engineering colleagues and lead small teams
Strong team player with high level of interpersonal skills
Ability to live and work in Gladstone and commute via ferry Monday to Friday to the Australia Pacific LNG facility at Curtis Island
