Company Description

CSA Mine is one of Australia’s longest operating copper mines with a history stretching back almost 150 years. At 1.9 kilometers deep, CSA is the second deepest copper mine in Australia and the third highest copper grade in the world. Located near the NSW town of Cobar, CSA Mine employs around 550 people and produces approximately 40,000 tonnes of copper concentrate per year. The ore is mined and processed on site and then transported by rail 700km to the Port of Newcastle for export. CSA Mine was acquired by Metals Acquisition Limited in June 2023.


Job Description

CSA Mine is looking for a Mine Surveyor to join the team. You will work in a team that is focused on safety, while driving to meet the plan. You will work in one of the world’s most iconic mining districts, which has the second highest grade copper mine in the country. 

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Responsibility for all survey control required to achieve short to medium term production and development targets.
  • Ensure development designs are marked up in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all production designs are marked up in a timely manner.
  • Conduct CMS Surveys and validate results.
  • Conduct Asbuilt surveys as required.
  • Maintain and improve mine models.
  • Ensure compliance to legislative requirements and site standards.
  • Carry out End of Month Surveys.
  • Undertake workplace inspections

About you:

  • BOSSI recognised degree qualified in Mine Surveying or Spatial Sciences.
  • Ability to work effectively autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Exposure to mine software including Deswik will be highly regarded.
  • Exposure to Leica Total Station will be highly regarded.
  • Minimum of 2 years underground metalliferous mining experience..
  • Must have a manual car licence

Conditions:

This position is offered on a residential or drive in drive out (DIDO) or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Sydney or Brisbane on an 8/6 roster. If residential is the preferred commute option relocation costs and a housing subsidy will be provided to the successful candidate to assist in relocating to Cobar. Candidates interested in the DIDO or FIFO will be provided with commute single accommodation and meals at the mine camp. CSA also provides Pool & Gym Reimbursements to our employees and their dependants.

Located an eight-hour drive to Sydney, nine-hour drive to Melbourne, and a quick three-hour drive to Dubbo, Cobar is a fascinating town rich in mining heritage and natural attractions. Entertainment options include restaurants, pubs, and clubs for dining out. You will be kept busy with a bowling and golf club, rugby and rugby league teams, race club, pony club, Olympic size swimming pool, gym – and more! The town boasts beautiful parks, two reservoirs, picnic areas and playgrounds. The youth club 'Youthie' is a vibrant children’s hub with a games room, gym and weights room, squash courts, sauna, indoor stadium, outdoor basketball court and a skate park.
